week 2 and still poo free
Are you curious how my hair looks two weeks into the poo-free-goodness?!
Not too shabby, huh? It feels slightly greasier than normal but not unmanageable. I thought it would be worse.
I do think that everyone's hair will respond differently to this poo free method. I rarely wash my hair as it is AND I rarely use product so maybe that's why the process hasn't been too bad.
I've found I need to "wash" my hair every other day rather than every 3-4 days. I think that's because my scalp is just trying to figure out what the eff it should be doing after suppressing it for 33 years.
I'll keep you updated! So far I haven't had the need to use the apple cider vinegar rinse, I'm still just using a tablespoon of baking soda in a cup of water. That's all folks.
I miss the smell of my shampoo though but if I'm not slathering my head in chemicals then I can do without the purdy smell. Oh I do love the smell of shea butter though...
The one thing I do find strange, is that when I get out of the shower my hair feels dry/wet. If that makes any sense at all. Almost like when you get out of a pool and your hair dries a bit. It's a little straw feeling but then as my hair fully dries it's fine and feels soft. So I'm not sure what that's all about. I also need to take my time combing my hair out since it's not all slick with conditioner. My hair is so curly, combing it out is quite a process.
I've tried going poo free with Ava's hair but her hair is so fine and so long, it tangles super easy and I feel like I need conditioner just to comb it out. Maybe if I use the apple cider vinegar on her hair? Maybe she needs a bit more oil than my own hair? I need to research that. EZ is poo free now too. I swear I kick myself for not trying this sooner. J is not on board yet... I'm working on him!!!
If you are trying this or wanting to try this please let me know! I want to hear how it's going for you and what your struggles are, etc. I would like to combine your comments and things into a blog post. Hit me up peeps!!! Comment, Facebook, email... whatevs... I'm flexible.
